Here's a couple of musical thoughts, followed by the list of tapes that I gathered during the 80's. Interspersed are a few "precursor" records that helped to lead the way out of the gloom in the late 70's.

The late 70's and early 80's witnessed a new kind of music lofting over from Europe, bringing hope to the masses of American youth who had suffered through a decade of disco, metal, oldies and easy listening. The new invasion was not the punk people were accustomed to hearing from overseas, but it was still exciting: every band was unpredictable, every song was different, every lyric was bizarre. It was called New Wave, then Modern, then Techno, then Alternative, then Synth-pop, but no matter what it was labeled, it was huge.
